With the mass of business blog posts appearing in the Google search index and on social media every day, it’s now more important than ever that your business blog posts are getting your sales message across to your potential customers.

Who are your customers?

When writing your post, do you carefully consider who is going to read it? What do you want them to do once they have read it? The answer should be, pick up the phone and call; But what about? Many business blog posts are very general. They advertise the company and not a specific product.

Be specific

Don’t be general. If you have a lot of different products, concentrate on one product or service in each post you publish. Include a call to action. Can you give them a reason to book with you by giving away something for free? This might simply be some free information or even some sort of voucher.

Target their inaction

Make it clear in your post what will happen if they don’t call you. For instance, if you are a boiler service engineer, don’t just say that you service boilers, tell them they are at risk of greater expense and discomfort if their boiler breaks down.

In conclusion

To stand the best chance of getting a response to your blog posts, be specific. Aim your post at one particular part of your business or promote just one product. Give the potential customer a genuine reason to contact you.

Tell them the cost of their inaction. Perhaps try to offer them something for nothing. Most importantly, try to think of ways to combat the challenge facing your customer. Your post should be aimed at solving their problem.
